Pride and prejudice 2 - Class Wars

I saw Pride and Prejudice 2 (ok, its just another version). I liked it more then I expected. I have seen the BBC version a couple of times and even read the book. I thought I would list a couple of my thoughts, in no particular order, below.

* I'm glad Jane was hot in this version. Jane is suppose to be prettier then Elizabeth and in the BBC version Jane was nothing to special. This problem was remedied by getting a hot Jane.

* There is still only one Elizabeth for me (See Below).

* There is only one Mr. Darcy for me (See above)

* However, the new Darcy and Elizabeth where fine and I wasn't annoyed by them.

* Mr. Collins in the BBC version is funny and ridiculous. In the new movie I wasn't sure if the actor was trying to play Mr. Collins or Chester the Molester (creepy).

*Both movies are good examples of what dancing would be like if there where no minorities (scary).

*The new version is more artsy. Not so artsy that I hated it; but it was definitely pushing the envelope (see scene where Elizabeth and Darcy are dancing alone).

* ---Caution Spoiler--
The ending of the new version was terrible. It ends with them (obviously in the afterglow stage of intercourse) with some clothes on talking romantically in front of Pemberly. We really didn't need a cheesy ending. A shot of them getting married would have been just fine. It wasn't artsy and it was cheesy.

*The mom in the book is totally ridiculous; I believe they played her down in order to not upset the feminists.

*I liked Donald Sutherland as the father.

*Overall it was good, but the BBC version is so good that it didn't have a sporting chance, especially at 2hrs long.

I don't understand why so many from this blog find themselves above the Jane Austin classic. Do you people have a soul?

Jared I agree with your post. It was good that I hot Jane replaced the average Jane. And what the hell was that last scene about. And it's true we need another culture to show us how to dance. And the new Mr. Collins was a bit scary. Thanks for the post I found it affirming.
